The Definitive Top Five MLB Ballparks

Say what you want about baseball, but it’s the sport with some of the prettiest stadiums in America. There are so many good ones, but what are the top five that you should visit before they come and go? You can’t go wrong with most of the houses that MLB teams call home, but these are easily the best.

5. Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA

By far the newest stadium on this list, the current home of the Philadelphia Phillies was opened in 2004, replacing the old Veterans Stadium. This might not be a popular pick to make the top five, but maybe it has more to do with the atmosphere. It feels like that place is pure electricity during playoff games. The weird slanted wall in the left-center field is cool too.

4. Fenway Park, Boston, MA

This one shouldn’t need a long and drawn-out explanation. Fenway Park is one of the premier ballparks in America. The Green Monster is a sight to behold. It’s been home to the Red Sox since 1912, so it’s a house that’s seen a ton of history, including 11 World Series. It’s seen many renovations but still stands tall.

3. Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL

Falling in the classic category of ballparks, Wrigley Field is a timeless classic. Home of the Cubs and the ivy-covered walls. Just an old-time feel to this ballpark. If you factor in the attached Wrigleyville area, you could have a pretty good night if you go to a Cubs game. Wrigley Field opened its doors in 1914 and remains today. This one doesn’t need a big explanation. Just look at it.

2. Oracle Park, San Francisco, CA

Home of the San Francisco Giants, Oracle Park sits right on the Bay, and boy is it beautiful. Many people would have this rated as the best ballpark in America, but as long as it’s in your top two, you know ball.

The brick wall in the right field, the big glove out in the left field, the beautiful San Francisco weather, how could you not love Oracle Park? The Giants seem to be in a weird spot right now, but at least they play in an awesome ballpark.

1. PNC Park, Pittsburgh, PA

Many people will say that PNC Park and Oracle Park are the definitive number one and two when it comes to the best MLB ballparks in America, and it’s pretty interchangeable. It’s tough to beat PNC Park. Although it hasn’t gotten the chance to be the home of a good team in its lifetime, that doesn’t take away from the beauty of the ballpark.

The Pittsburgh skyline is in the background with the beautiful yellow bridge just within eyeshot. Left-handed power hitters with a chance to splash one into the Allegheny River just beyond the walkway beyond the right field wall. One day, the Pirates will write some history in that ballpark, hopefully.
