Three Shell Fishing Areas to be Closed July 3-10
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will temporarily close three shell fishing areas on the North Shore of Long Island during the upcoming July 4th holiday week. DEC imposes these closures during busy holidays to protect public health from potentially contaminated shellfish associated with increased boating activity in shell fishing waters. Boaters are reminded to use pump-out facilities to help protect water quality.
A Viewing of Hard Miles Touched the Hearts of the Greenwich Community
On Saturday, June 15th, the Arch Street Teen Center collaborated with the Town of Greenwich Youth Services Bureau and the Greenwich Active Transportation Task Force to host a free screening of Star Matthew Modine’s new film, “Hard Miles”. This event was accompanied by a bicycle demonstration, food trucks, an ice cream truck, and a live Q&A session with the star himself and attracted many viewers.
Unnamed benefactor improves conditions for Norwalk’s strays
Stray or lost animals will have a more comfortable stay in Norwalk thanks to an unnamed benefactor who bequeathed $331,000 to the City to improve its pound. Police Chief James Walsh outlined the proposed enhancements, made by the animal control officers, at a meeting of the Norwalk Land Use and Building Management Committee last week.

What's with all the new coffee shops in Westchester?. Since January, 14 have opened in every corner of the county, from Pelham to Port Chester, with seven new additions in May and June alone. Those include two within walking distance to each other in Irvington (shout out to Don Carvajal Café and LuDY Cafe), and two in Scarsdale, namely The Formosa Coffee and Omni Caffe.

DARIEN — Darien families rolled down Noroton Avenue to celebrate Independence Day with the town's 19th annual Push-n-Pull Parade. Hosted by Darien VFW Post 6933, the parade features only non-motorized vehicles including bikes, scooters and wagons piloted by local children. Contest winners for the best decorated float and vehicle and most patriotically dressed family led the parade as honorary grand marshals.
