WALL TOWNSHIP — Wall Township police announced on social media Monday details of three separate car crashes that occurred over the weekend, Aug. 24 and Aug. 25, all of which led to an investigation or arrest by the department.

    ALLENWOOD CIRCLE CRASH

On Sunday, Aug. 25, Ptl. Fred Sprengel was on Allaire Road when he observed a 2022 BMW M4 traveling westbound at an extremely high rate of speed, police said. Ptl. Sprengel turned around and attempted to catch up to the vehicle, which he located a short time later. The car had crashed into a telephone pole on Allenwood Circle, and the occupants had fled from the scene. Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit responded and conducted a track with negative results, the department said. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Ptl. Sprengel or Det. Zach Honecker at 732-449-4500.

    HAZLET MAN ARREST

On Saturday, Aug. 24, at approximately 7:28 a.m., officers responded to Brighton Avenue and Romano Boulevard for a report of a single-car motor vehicle collision, police said, in which the vehicle rolled over. The on-scene investigation led to the arrest of Brando Torsiello, 24, of Hazlet, on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Both Torsiello and his front-seat passenger, a 25-year-old woman from Freehold, were extricated from their vehicle by the Glendola Fire Department and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, in Neptune, with minor injuries. Ptl. Megan Alexander was the arresting officer.

    COLTS NECK MAN CHARGED

Also on Saturday, Aug. 24, at approximately 9:08 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Phillips conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2013 Ford Mustang operated by Jeffery Cook Jr., 37, of Colts Neck. During the motor vehicle stop, Cook fled the scene of the stop “at a high rate of speed,” the department said. Shortly after fleeing the stop, his car collided with a tree and a telephone pole at the intersection of Belmar Boulevard and Gully Road.

Cook had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Glendale Fire Department. Wall Township Emergency Medical Services transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with minor injuries. Cook was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and having open containers of alcohol in his car.
