    How did Penn State wrestling commits fare at Fargo Junior Nationals?: Newsstand

    Penn State tweets of the day

    We start with complete Penn State results from Fargo. For those unaware, the prestigious tournament in North Dakota’s biggest town is one the toughest freestyle test for juniors and U16 wrestlers every summer. The Nittany Lions had three Class of 2025 commits entered in the three-day Junior Nationals tournament. Pa. natives Nate Desmond and Dalton Perry competed at 126 and 138 pounds, respectively. And, Connecticut’s William Henckel was in the 175-pound division.

    Desmond qualified for the semifinals after outscoring his opponents 53-0 over his first five matches. But, in he fell there to fellow Pa., native and tournament two seed Aaron Seidel 7-2 to fall into the consolation bracket. He lost in the consolation semifinals but ultimately beat Edwin Sierra of California 5-3 to finish fifth.

    Perry made it to the seventh round of wrestle backs before losing to top-seeded Alex Braun of Minnesota in a wild match, 24-18, which ended his tournament. All told, he was 6-2.

    Henckel beat No. 19 Keenan Sheridan 10-0 in the semifinals to reach the finals. But once there, the future Nittany Lion lost 4-2 to New Jersey’s Ryan Burton to finish second in his weight class.
