Stu Gates, a 95-year-old legend in the volunteer fire service, has been honored with a street dedication in his name. The Stony Point Town Board and members of Wayne Hose Fire Company Number One renamed the street alongside the 9-W firehouse as "Stu Gates Way," recognizing his remarkable 80-year commitment to the service. Gates served not only as a firefighter, but also was the president in numerous organizations, including the Wayne Hose Fire Company, Rockland County Volunteer Firefighters Association, Hudson Valley VFA, and New York-New Jersey VFA. His dedication to the fire service spanned decades, leaving a lasting impact on the community and inspiring generations of firefighters. "
