STOUGHTON — A 31-year-old man was injured in a shooting incident in Stoughton on Wednesday night, Chief Donna McNamara said .

Officials arrived at the scene shortly after 10 p.m. after receiving a call about a possible shooting on Stagecoach Road.

When they arrived, officers said they found a 31-year-old man seated on the ground in front of a residence at 40 Stagecoach Road with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim was not identified, but police say he is not a resident of Stoughton.

The man was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

While the investigation is ongoing, police say they believe there is no danger to the community at large.

It is unclear what the circumstances surrounding the shooting are.

The investigation is still ongoing, McNamara said Thursday morning.
