Update to city burn ordinance passed
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — There was an update to the city's burn ordinance passed by the Hutchinson City Council on Tuesday. The update is below. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-102 LOCAL AMENDMENTS TO INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE, 2018 EDITION OF ARTICLE I FIRE PROTECTION OF CHAPTER 25 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF HUTCHINSON, KANSAS PERTAINING TO OPEN BURNING, RECREATIONAL FIRES, AND PORTABLE OUTDOOR FIREPLACES.

Trooper Gate topic surfaces at city commission
Junction City Commissioner Richard Pinaire noted Tuesday evening he would like to see the recent Army closure of the Trooper Gate entrance to Fort Riley reconsidered. He suggested it could perhaps be a topic for an upcoming joint city - county - school district meeting. He added local officials are stakeholders and suggested a meeting of officials with Fort Riley.

City commissioners considering establishment of designated stormwater utility revenue stream following recent study meeting Wednesday
Emporia City Commissioners will consider establishing a new revenue stream for stormwater utility improvements next month following initial discussions Wednesday. City Engineer Jim Ubert presented the item to commissioners during their regular study meeting Wednesday afternoon noting that Emporia is one of only three “cities in the first-class” in the state without such a fund. At this time, Ubert says the city is having to pull dollars from other city funds to address issues that arise.

'R-rated' paranormal circus returns to Wichita next month
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Halloween arrives in Kansas early again this year. The Paranormal Cirque II comes to Wichita next month for shows that aren't for kids. The performances under the orange-striped "Clown Castle" promise to deliver surprises, scares and amusement to all who dare attend. Six shows at Towne East Square are scheduled for September 13-16, the circus' website says. You must be at least 17 years old to buy tickets. Children ages 13-17 may attend at the discretion of their parents or guardians.
