RAGBRAI to Make Way Through Greenfield Tomorrow
The biggest bicycling event for the state of Iowa is underway. Tomorrow, the bicyclists taking part in the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) will make their way through Adair County, with Greenfield being the midday stop. The route through Greenfield has changed since the city was originally chosen as a stop, allowing bicyclists to tour through areas that were in the path of the May 21st tornado that devastated a mile long stretch of the town in a minute.
Wildcat Runners Using Summer to Prepare
With fall sports on the horizon at West Central Valley, Wildcat cross country runners have also been using the summer to prepare for the upcoming season. In addition to the morning training sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays focused on speed, agility, and weight training the cross country runners use their mornings to run together to get back into cross country shape. When asked what the summer workouts look like at West Central Valley, activities director Jim Lindsay commented on how the cross country team is taking advantage of their summer vacation time. While mentioning how juggling ones schedule can be difficult when softball and baseball were in season, Lindsay mentioned that now, “cross country has their run club in the morning” as they anxiously await the beginning of the season.
ADM Softball Starts State Tourney Today Against Fort Dodge
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team gears up for their first postseason game of the 2024 season today in Fort Dodge. The Tigers will be battling versus the host school of the Fort Dodge Dodgers this afternoon at 5:15pm. This will be the sixth meeting between these teams as the Dodgers has taken all five previously. Last year, ADM fell 8-3 to Fort Dodge in the Class 4A Quarterfinal game. Before that, the Tigers took on the Dodgers in 2021, 2020, then two games in 2012.
Jaidyn Sellers Makes All District Softball Team
In her final season with the Panorama Panthers, Jaidyn Sellers claims her place on the Class 2A Southwest All District team for softball. Sellers was a member of the Panther softball team for five years, and was the hit leader as an 8th grader with 25 hits while playing at the varsity level for the first time. Jaidyn would transform into a leader and vital member of the Panther softball team during her five year career.

Panorama Women’s Golf League results from July 16
A total of 49 women played in the Panorama Women’s Golf League on July 16. In the A group, Peg Carr, Ai Dunlap and Debbie Rockwell were the low scratch winners with a 36. The second low scratch winners was Paula Hansen with a 38. Ai Dunlap was the HDCP winner with a 26. The special event was longest putt on hole No. 5, and Karen Eby was the winner. Kathy Delucca, Karen Eby, Sue Merryman, Susan Thompson and Jolene Wright had the fewest putts with 17.
ADM Baseball Spotlight: Reed Ausdemore
Today for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Raccoon Valley Radio will focus on Junior Reed Ausdemore. Ausdemore was one of the consistent pitchers for the Tigers this season. He started seven games on the mound finishing with a 2-4 record, had 38 strikeouts, walked 14 batters in 39.2 innings pitched. Offensively for ADM, Ausdemore played in 31 games with 101 at-bats, scored 14 runs off of 25 hits, got 20 singles, five doubles, and 10 RBIs.
Panther Football Camp Begins On August 5th
With the football season just under a month and a half away, the Panthers will start to prepare for action with the Panorama High School Football Camp. From August 5th through the 8th, Panther athletes from 9-12th grade will come together to practice, lift and even share meals together in preparation for the football season. Players are asked to bring the essentials everyday, including: multiple sets of clothes, football gear, lifting shoes, water bottles, and any other useful equipment that may be needed. With paintballing as one of the team activities, waivers will be sent home to families and must be brought back to participate before the activities. This years camp cost $75 per person, and will include: five meals, snacks, Gatorade, paint-balling, swimming, and the Central Iowa Football Camp.
ADM Softball’s Hagedorn, C. Smith, and HC Stanford Make All District Teams
Two players and the head coach from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team are being recognized for qualifying for all district. The Tigers’ Sophomore Lauren Hagedorn and Senior Cameran Smith have been selected to represent on the Class 4A Southwest District team. They join several players from Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, Boone, Carlisle, Creston, Gilbert, Glenwood, North Polk, and Winterset.
