Suffolk Police investigate 2 vehicle accident

SUFFOLK, VA – On Wednesday, April 24,  at approximately 4:35 p.m., Suffolk Emergency Communications Center was notified of a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer in the westbound lanes of Route 58/ Franklin Bypass, just west of exit 189. Suffolk Fire & Rescue, Suffolk Police, Virginia State Police, and Southampton County Sherriff’s Office are currently on the scene. The driver and passenger of the vehicle sustained life-threating injuries and were both medevacked an area hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

One westbound lane of Rt. 58 remains closed at this time.

This accident remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
