Minor allegedly tosses unregistered firearm from window after passing police officer at high rate of speed
FAIRFIELD, California — A minor was detained after allegedly discarding an unregistered firearm from a vehicle window while speeding past a police officer, authorities said. On June 26, 2024, a patrol officer observed a 2017 Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed near Tennessee Street and Colusa Street, according to a press release from the Fairfield Police Department. The officer pursued the vehicle for several blocks before it turned onto Marin Street and subsequently onto Indiana Street. During the pursuit, the officer saw the driver throw a firearm out of the driver's window.

The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection just completed a review of wildfire risk planning in cities and counties around the state. Some jurisdictions which met top safety criteria have been designated as Fire Risk Reduction Communities.
