Ohio's Division of Cannabis Control is providing a glimpse into which marijuana dispensaries could be the first to sell recreational product.

Most of the businesses that have received provisional dual-use dispensary licenses from the DCC are already operating in the state's medical marijuana market. The state has opened the way for recreational sales to commence as well — once an authorized seller achieves full certification.

Every cannabis business that has been granted a provisional license still needs a certificate of operation to open its doors to recreational consumers, as the Columbus Dispatch reported last week .

Recreational sales will start throughout the state on a rolling basis, with businesses receiving certification as they meet DCC requirements, said division spokesman Jamie Crawford.

The DCC granted a provisional dual-use license to the The Botanist's Akron dispensary this month, the first such license granted in Summit County. A public relations agency contact for Acreage told the Beacon via email Friday that the timing for the recreational sales launch there is uncertain.
