The Estrella Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution hosted a “Modern Take on a Victorian Tea” March 9 at the Briarwood Country Club in Sun City West.

The 65 attendees had a menu that included tea sandwiches, scones and breads, desserts, all with a modern interpretation.

The tablescapes were a unique presentation with a multi-level presentation of the dishes and insulated pots in place of the traditional tiered serving plates and tea pots. Guests were also treated to a program of ballroom dancing performed by James Malone and Quinny Thai, national champion amateur competitors.

During a short time before the tea was served, guests shopped at the sales table and decided which of the baskets they wanted to win. As one of their community service projects, members of the Dysart High School JROTC served as ushers and gave a hand wherever needed.

The Estrella Chapter was honored to have the ASDAR state regent and several of the state officers attend.

The tea was a fundraising event for Estrella Chapter and will help fund their projects to support patriotism, historical preservation and education.

Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman who can prove her direct lineage to a person who fought in the American Revolution or supported it.
