SANDYSTON — A 61-year-old man’s body has been recovered from a Sussex County lake after authorities spent days looking for any closure, according to NJ.com. The outlet was able to confirm with New Jersey State Police that just after 6 p.m. Friday, James Lee, of Sandyston, fell off his paddleboard while at Kittatinny Lake.

Port Chester police officer killed in off-duty motorcycle crash
An off-duty Port Chester police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash in Monroe in Orange County on Sunday afternoon, state police said Monday. Christopher Bernal, 23, was riding a 2004 Honda motorcycle on Route 9W North when police say he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, causing him to strike a parked, occupied 2023 GMC Acadia. Bernal was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cornwall, where he died. A passenger of the Acadia was also taken to St. Luke’s with non life-threatening injuries.

POND EDDY – State Police have released the identity of the man who drowned in the Upper Delaware River on Sunday as a 37-year-old Bensalem, Pennsylvania man. The death of Chirag Patel early in the afternoon follows the June 29 drowning of 24-year-old Jeysson Ariel Osorio-Reyes of Ocean County, New Jersey near Milford Beach, Pennsylvania.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – A Sparta man with several aliases was recently indicted for fraud related to millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program or PPP funds and Economic Injury Disaster Loans or EIDL, according to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger. Nikenson Jean Mathurin, a/k/a Nik Mathurin, a/k/a Jean Mathurin was charged with three counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering.
