Shell Lake artist wins Congressional Art Competition
WAUSAU - Congressman Tom Tiffany announced on May 2 the winners of Wisconsin’s Seventh District 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Aselin Olson of Shell Lake High School took second place for her work “Success.” Beginning in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition gives young artists from across the Seventh District the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building during the year. The theme chosen for this year’s competition was “A day in the life of Wisconsin.” “Every year, I am amazed by the talented young artists in the Seventh District,” said Tiffany. “Congratulations to those who placed in the top three, the honorable mentions and a huge thank you to all 32 students who submitted pieces this year.” Olson’s artwork will be displayed in Tiffany’s Washington, D.C., office.
