Sellers leads Albemarle Championship after round 1 at Sound Golf Links
HERTFORD — Golfer Grant Sellers finished at the top of the leaderboard in round one of the Albemarle Championship, which began Thursday at the Sound Golf Links at Albemarle Plantation in Hertford. Sellers, who is 25 and a resident of McBee, South Carolina, finished Thursday’s opening round with a 6-under-Par 71 and tied with Jack Crosby, 25, of Greenville. The area girls soccer season came to an end Thursday when the last two local public school teams still in the state playoffs — Currituck and Perquimans — lost their matches. The No. 13-ranked Currituck County High School Knights were shut out 3-0 by the No. 4-ranked Fike Deacons in the 3A NCHSAA women’s soccer championship tournament.
