Here are five new shops and restaurants that opened on Nantucket
A chocolate shop. A restaurant. A women’s boutique. A luxury clothing store and a snack store. These are five new businesses visitors can expect to see this summer on Nantucket, according to Leary Public Relations, an agency that represents NIR Retail. The new additions make 95 local businesses that encompass NIR Retail, a New England Development company, that leases business on some of the most popular streets on the island.
Dozens of Massachusetts Communities Have Banned Polystyrene
Massachusetts is moving away from polystyrene food packaging, and Fairhaven is at the forefront of the movement to rid the plant of single-use plastic products. The Massachusetts Sierra Club says, "As of May 2024, within Massachusetts, 62 cities and towns across 12 counties representing over 1.3 million people (20%) have already banned some form of polystyrene."

Boston real estate group lists 10 of its short-term Nantucket rental properties following controversial vote
As the debate on whether or not to allow short-term rentals continues on the island, one realtor calls it quits. The Copley Group, a Boston-based real estate firm and one of Nantucket’s largest operators of short-term rentals, has put most of its island portfolio on the market, which could potentially prevent hundreds of families from renting those properties out in the future.
