Day 1 of the PIAA track and field championships has concluded and there were a number of standouts from the Mid-Penn Conference who dazzled on the podium stands. The day was highlighted by Lower Dauphin’s Drake Risser being crowned a state champion in the Class 3A pole vault, and Jeremiah Hargrove standing fourth in the 2A javelin. Outside of the Mid-Penn, Butler’s Drew Griffith set a new national record in the 1600 to get the entire crowd going.
