Jump River museum to open
The Jump River Valley Historical Society has announced its summer museum opening schedule. The museum will open for the season on June 8 to coincide with the 57th Lumberman’s Day festival in Catawba. The museum is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, which are June 8 and 22, July 13 and 27, and Aug. 10 and 24. Check out the 2025 display, “Thanks For the Memories!” at the museum located at W9224 U.S. 8 in Catawba. Migratory songbirds are now returning to Price County from their wintery grounds in Central and South America. This is a sign that spring has finally arrived and the air is filled with bird song once again after a long, unusually warm, mostly snowless winter. Prentice students place in Congressional art competition
Prentice students were named third place and honorable mention winners of Wisconsin’s Seventh District 2024 Congressional Art Competition, according to a May 2 press release from the office of U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-WI. The theme for the 2024 competition was “A day in the life of Wisconsin.’ Nicholas Gonzalez, who attends Prentice High School, was named the third place winner for his work, “Revaluation of a John Deere.” His artwork will be displayed in Rep. KIDS PLANT ON ARBOR DAY
The Phillips Tree Committee and 53 Phillips Elementary School fourth-graders commemorate Arbor Day with a tree planting at Sokol Park on April 25, 2024. As soon as Mayor Charles Peterson read an Arbor Day proclamation on the benefits of trees the students started planting a honey locust tree near Victoria street with committee members, city and county public works employees and Wisconsin DNR guiding the students.

Stylist hosts ‘Project Prom’

Resort campground expansion permit delayed
PHILLIPS — The Price County Land Use Committee postponed a decision on a conditional use permit application of a Fifield resort to expand its seasonal campground at their March 21 meeting. The decision followed an hour long public hearing where neighbors presented concerns. By a voice vote the committee postponed the matter until the next meeting on May 23.
