Jump River museum to open
The Jump River Valley Historical Society has announced its summer museum opening schedule. The museum will open for the season on June 8 to coincide with the 57th Lumberman’s Day festival in Catawba. The museum is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, which are June 8 and 22, July 13 and 27, and Aug. 10 and 24. Phillips approves fire truck purchase
PHILLIPS — The city of Phillips Committee of the Whole approved the purchase of a new fire truck at its May 7 meeting. The total purchase price of the truck, to include the chassis, all equipment and other preparation is approximately $779,000, according to Phillips City Clerk Shelby Kosmer.
