Pullman considers short-term rental rules amid Airbnb boom
(The Center Square) – The City of Pullman is considering how to regulate short-term rentals, or STRs, like Airbnbs after its prior policy left the municipality without a way to enforce compliance. City Of Pullman Elected Officials Salaries Will Remain The Same For Next Two Years
PULLMAN - Salaries for the City of Pullman’s elected officials will stay the same for the next two years. The city’s salary commission met on Wednesday morning to set the salary for city council and mayor for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. The board looked at comparable cities in Eastern Washington which shows that Pullman’s pay is near the top of that list. The commission unanimously decided to maintain the current salaries.
Pullman Regional Hospital Board Hires Contractor To Remodel Old Bank Building Into Offices
PULLMAN - The Pullman Regional Hospital Board has approved a contract to remodel the old Umpqua/Columbia Bank building into an office building. The hospital board bought the property on Bishop Boulevard last year for 2.5 million dollars. the initial estimate for remodeling the building for offices was half a million dollars. All four contractor bids for the work came in over budget. The PRH Board held a special meeting on Wednesday morning to award the contract. The commissioners hired Mangum Construction in Clarkston which submitted the low bid of 625,000 dollars. Officials told the board that the project ran over budget because of unexpected work involving the fire alarm, elevator and HVAC system.
City Of Pullman Proposed Airbnb Short-Term Rental Restrictions Moves To Planning Commission Wednesday Night
The city’s community development department has drafted six pages of regulations to restrict short-term rentals like Airbnb’s. The proposal was crafted at the request of the city’s planning commission. The proposed restrictions include requiring permits, rules for online advertising, occupancy restrictions, proof that all taxes have been paid, and that operators have a business license with the State of Washington. Other draft regulations require inspections, a 350 dollar initial application fee, and a 150 dollar annual renewal fee. The proposal also requires short-term rental operators to have a property manager available within half an hour’s drive of Pullman.
