Jackson honors the fallen with Memorial Day parade and ceremony
JACKSON, MI – Community members enjoyed a Memorial Day parade in downtown Jackson on Monday, May 27. The parade featured roughly 15 organizations, including the Jackson High School Marching Band, Middle School at Parkside’s marching band, Boy Scouts Troop 396, Jackson County American Legion’s Ritual Team and the American Legion Rose City Post #324.
What's new at county parks this summer: Trails, boating features and more
There will be plenty of construction and new features to look for this year at parks in Ingham, Clinton and Eaton counties. Most beaches and lake parks in the area have been open for some time, but the Memorial Day weekend will officially kick off the summery season around the corner, with families trekking to parks and beaches for holiday picnics.
7 Jackson teens graduate from Consumers Energy school-to-workplace program
JACKSON, MI – A group of Jackson County teens on Wednesday became the newest graduates of a program meant to better prepare them to move from the classroom to the workplace. Consumers Energy celebrated the accomplishments of seven Jackson County Intermediate School District students May 22, with a special graduation ceremony. The students have spent the last year taking part in Project SEARCH, a model program that provides students with developmental disabilities with first-hand job training and experience, Consumers Energy officials said.
