Tolhouse brings raw organic cold pressed beverages to Toledo
Things have gotten downright smurfy at Tolhouse. Greenbar, the new cold pressed juice shop in Tolhouse, has seven varieties of its freshly squeezed designer juices, but the one called Smurfette is the favorite of both Tolhouse owner Will Lucas and coffee barista and juicer extraordinaire David Kucher. “There’s no added sugar or anything but the Smurfette probably tastes the sweetest,” said Kucher from behind the counter at Greenbar, which shares the same space as Earth Coffeeshop. The bar held its grand opening earlier this month, adding a new dimension to Tolhouse, which like Earth, will be totally open to the public.
Lambertville's Lunchroom makes great use of location
When they say location, location, location, they usually don’t mean rural Michigan, but the Schoolhouse Lunchroom at Olde Schoolhouse Commons in Lambertville makes the absolute most of its charming country locale. The diner is in what used to be the gymnasium of a country schoolhouse. The building itself is more than 100 years old, but it has been completely refurbished with some office spaces and small storefronts both upstairs and down. Grandfather of 9-year old house fire victim using inspiration to teach fishing to youth
TOLEDO, Ohio — Mark Lockett's grandson, Amare Lockett, died in a west Toledo house fire on Christmas Eve in 2021. "I don't think there's going to be a day where I ever not miss that I didn't get the chance to do this with him," Lockett said. "I want to keep my grandson's name alive and his legacy. He was only nine years old."
Walton: When does a basement become a museum?
Live long enough and you accumulate stuff. Lots of stuff. Most of it probably should have been tossed out years ago but for some reason you just can’t bring yourself to do it. You should tour my basement. It looks like a museum. It smells like one too. Musty. Old. Like me. I have a machine down there that my grandchildren wouldn’t recognize. It’s about 8 inches square. Cords come out the back. Attached to the front is a wheel with numbers. The wheel spins when you poke your finger in and twirl. For them it’s a fun toy. But...
