Pecatis And Bannack Punch Tickets To State AAA Meet
Gettysburg High School’s track and field athletes made a mark at the District 3 Class AAA Championships this past Saturday. Two of Gettysburg’s finest, Gabe Pecaitis and Caroline Bannak, earned their spots at the upcoming PIAA AAA State Championships, highlighting a day filled with personal bests and school records.
Adams County Sports Update – May 21 2024
Tied at 2-2 after four innings, Shippensburg and Gettysburg battled through eight-and-a-half scoreless innings before the Greyhounds walked off with the win on an unearned run in the bottom of the 13th of the District III 5A playoffs. Gettysburg ace Tegan Kuhns pitched into the ninth, allowing two runs and striking out 11. Wes Coolbaugh was strong for the next four, allowing just two hits and fanning four. Coolbaugh also had a strong game offensively, collecting a pair of hits and driving in both Gettysburg runs. Troy Chamberlin threw seven scoreless innings in relief of starter Aydin Mentzer for Shippensburg and also drove in a run.
Steel-High wide receiver Durrell Ceasar Jr. added to Big 33 roster
It appears that Steel-High’s Durrell Ceasar Jr., among the most productive two-way standouts in the state last season, has one more all-star assignment to go. Ceasar was announced as a late edition to Team Pa. for Sunday’s 67th Big 33 Football Classic, slated for 7 p.m. at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.
