A man was injured in a Wednesday night shooting in west Tallahassee — the second shooting within 24 hours.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office arrived around 9:45 p.m. to investigate a call in the area of Blountstown and Parklawn Streets where deputies found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a LCSO news release.

"The victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition," LCSO said.

As of Thursday morning, LCSO spokesperson Shonda Knight said detectives have not released any other details, and it remains unclear if the victim and suspect were known to each other and what events led to the shooting.

LCSO urges anyone with information to call (850) 606-5800 or leave an anonymous tip by contacting Crime Solvers at (850) 574-TIPS.

Early that morning, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a shooting at the ReNew Tallahassee apartment complex on Tharpe Street that killed a man and injured another man and woman.

Including these two most recent bouts of gunfire, 16 people have died and 33 people have been injured in 40 serious shootings in the capital city and county so far this year, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
