Buccaneers' social media account reminds people with a simple fact why Mike Evans is still largely underappreciated

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers absolutely knocked it out of the park when they selected Mike Evans with the seventh overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.  Since then, all Evans has done is post 1000-yard receiving seasons every year that he's been in the league, earning second-team All-Pro honors last year.

And he did that with a who's who of not great QB play.  Mike Glennon, Josh McCown, and James Winston fed Evans the ball until Tom Brady arrived in the 2020 offseason.  However, Evans still produced year and year out.

As a result, it should come as little surprise when the Buccaneers' Twitter/X account thumbed out a reminder as to who's led the league in total receiving yards in the NFL since 2015.

According to Stat Muse , Evans leads a number of elite names with 10,629 receiving yards since 2015.  Second is Chiefs TE Travis Kelce with 10,466.  Rounding out the top five are Titans WR De'Andre Hopkins, Raiders WR Davante Adams, and Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill.  Of those, only Tyreek Hill wasn't in the league in 2015, as he was drafted by the Chiefs the following offseason in 2016.

Evans' longevity and productivity with one team is something that's not always seen anymore.  Imagine if Evans was a member of the Dallas Cowboys.  Or the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Green Bay Packers.  Or another marquee franchise and/or in a major media market.  They'd already have sized him up for a gold jacket and a plaque in Canton.

Instead, Evans will continue to go out and try to help the Bucs quietly (at least to the majority of media outlets and fans across the league) earn the franchise's fourth straight division title and fifth straight trip to the postseason.  An accomplishment that seems absolutely insane after the decade-plus of pure misery after the Jon Gruden era concluded.

But hey, few pay attention to Evans and the Buccaneers or believe in them outside of the Tampa Bay area.  And that's just the way the Jason Licht and the Buccaneers like it.
