TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County leaders will celebrate the completion of a year-long affordable housing project on Thursday, July 7.

They’re holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. for the newly improved Armature Place Apartments. It’s taking place at the apartment complex near Busch Gardens in Tampa.

The ceremony will include leaders from the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa who helped lead the renovations.

A lot went into this project over the last year.

The county contributed more than $16 million American Rescue Plan Act dollars to get this apartment complex to where it is now.

Ninety-six one and two-bedroom apartments now have new cabinets, countertops, flooring, and appliances.

Outside, there’s a new racquetball court and sidewalks.

People who make 80% or less than the area’s median income are eligible to live at the Armature Place Apartments.
