Music is all around us, whether that’s from listening to the radio on your way to work, or by comparing Spotify playlists with your friends. Or music is created through your local community.

On Thursday, May 30th at 7:30 p.m., you can have the chance to attend a performing arts show with very talented high school artists. The show, put on by the Chatham Performing Arts Club (CPAC), will be located in the high school auditorium. You can hear from a variety of performers, anywhere from singing to dancing to playing instruments. There will be a combination of solos, duets, and group numbers from original songs to artists such as Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, and Tomaso Antonio Vitali.

The Chatham Performing Arts Club (CPAC) puts on two showcases a year, one in the fall and another in the spring. Chatham High School teacher Terrence Ferguson leads the club, alongside high school students Eva Dittmann, Challen Nassif, Lucy Siow, Jonas Wilcox , and Julia Wilcox . Toni Kitsopoulos-Graziano, Dylan Toolajian, Joanie Abbott , and Kathleen Criss originally founded CPAC with the goal of providing a night of music and raising money for underfunded music departments across the country.

The proceeds from Thursday’s concert will go to the Save the Music Foundation , a nonprofit organization celebrating 25 years of helping students and schools afford music education programs. With a strong mission of helping communities reach their full potential of making music, they donate instruments and music technology, provide support services to teachers, and advocate for music education.

There is no charge of admission to attend, however, you will be able to donate to the Save the Music Foundation at the event.

Editor's note: Isabella Bickenbach is a Chatham High School student working for TAPinto Chatham through the CHS Senior Internship Program.
