Fall Sports Preview: Sayreville War Memorial Boys Soccer

SAYREVILLE, NJ -- Sayreville War Memorial Boys Soccer will begin their season on Thursday, Sept. 5, with a home-opener against John P. Stevens. Head coach Nick Cifelli will look to improve his team from last season, after finishing with an 8-5-5 record.

The Bombers will be without their top two scorers from last season, Eric Sadlocha and Adam Zamraki, both of whom graduated this past summer. However, Cifelli will be returning junior Braydon Paczkowski, who missed all of last season due to injury. Cifelli attributes staying healthy as one of the many keys for the team to have success this season.

"We have a nice blend of talented underclassmen combined with a few returning varsity players that should make practices very competitive, hopefully leading to more success on the field," said Cifelli. "I’m looking forward to seeing how this team can build chemistry and a great work ethic to get results on the field."

Led by senior captain Aiden Petras, Sayreville War Memorial will face some of their more challenging games against opponents within the White Division of the Greater Middlesex Conference.

"Our White Division schedule presents a challenge every night, so to overlook one of those teams could change your entire season. Obviously, Colonia is probably our biggest game as they won the division last year and returned the majority of their team," Cifelli added. "I believe this team will be very competitive. The talent level and distribution of talent is generating excitement within the program. I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out."
