EAST HANOVER, NJ - New Jersey Transit riders are in for a free holiday of travel the week leading up to Labor Day.

Fees are waived on New Jersey Transit buses, trains, and light rail lines for a week up to Monday, September 2nd. NJ Transit officials have stated that this is a customer appreciation event due to there being many delays, cancelations and a fare increase put into effect this summer.

If travelers have already purchased an August Monthly ticket, they will receive a 25% discount on their monthly September pass.

This fare holiday is a way to say "thank you" to the hundreds of thousands of riders who depend on public transit, "particularly during a time when transit service has not consistently met their expectations—or our own," Murphy and transit officials said earlier in August.
