WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Youngsters from Colonia-baed Girl Scout Troop 83340 joined local officials for a ceremonial flag-raising this week at Town Hall to raise public awareness about childhood cancer.
Participating Girl Scouts wore “ Team Jules ” T-shirts, showing their support for valiant 10-years-old Colonia cancer survivor, Julie Hildebrand.
Julie spent nine months at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to face “multiple surgeries, six intense rounds of chemotherapy, three stem cell transplants, spinal taps and dozens of blood transfusions,” her father recalled.
“ (Julie) is now cancer-free for six years, and she continues to thrive as a healthy 10-year- old,” Robert Hildebrand said. She is a fifth grader at Lynn Crest Elementary School .
Her 12-year-old sister, Lauren, participates in Colonia’s Girl Scout Troop 83340, that actively supports “ Team Jules ,” according to her appreciative father.
“ Our family will be forever grateful for the amazing care that Julie received, and continues to receive, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia,” he said. He hopes “one day a cure will be found for all forms of pediatric cancer.”
To raise money for medical care and research at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, it will host a Sunday, Sept. 29th, 5K Run/2K Walk on Philly’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway, in cooperation with Citadel Credit Union.
To support the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Robert Hildebrand respectfully asks that Woodbridge residents visit the event website and support “ Team Jules ."
