Three New York men were arrested Tuesday in connection to an home invasion in Teaneck in January in which the victims were allegedly held hostage for almost 4½ hours while their captors ransacked the home.

After a six month investigation, Frank Salcedo, 43; Francisco Sandoval, 42; and Brian Arias, 40, were charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, weapons possession and other related offenses, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said on Wednesday.

The investigation began on Jan. 12, with a report to Teaneck police of an armed home invasion that occurred at a private residence on East Tryon Avenue, Musella's office said.

At approximately 3 p.m. police responded to the report. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two adult victims who were tied up inside the home with zip-ties. Officers said the adults had been restrained since approximately 10:30 a.m. that day.

Officials said three male suspects wearing masks and armed with handguns broke into the home and tied up the victims. Over the next few hours, two more people arrived at the home and were also restrained by the suspects at gunpoint.

The three men demanded that the victims turn over money that was located somewhere in the house, according to Musella's office. The suspects allegedly tore apart the home in an attempt to find money, punching holes in the walls, ripping apart couches, destroying furniture and pulling vents and cabinets from the walls.

The suspects also assaulted one of their captives with a hammer and threatened to torture and kill one of the victim’s two juvenile children if they did not surrender the money, according to the news release.

The three suspects eventually left the residence and one of the victims was able to free themselves and call police.

The prosecutor's office said authorities were able to identify two suspect vehicles involved in the home invasion after a "complex and diligent investigation." Investigators found a GPS tracking device in one of the victim's vehicles that was secretly placed by one of the suspects, Musella's office said.

Salcedo, Sandoval and Arias were located and arrested on Tuesday in the Bronx, the prosecutor said. All three were placed into the custody of the New York Police Department pending extradition to Bergen County.

The trio are charged with four counts of first-degree kidnapping and a count each of first-degree armed robbery, second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, two counts of third-degree aggravated assault and second-degree armed burglary.

The Bergen Prosecutor’s Special Investigations Squad, the Teaneck Police Department, New York CityPolice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation all contributed to the investigation, Musella's office said.

The news release did not state a court date for the three suspects.
