'Intentionally set fire' burns $22,500 worth of hay in Lenawee County, fire department says
MORENCI, Mich. — A fire that the Morenci Fire Department says was intentionally set Thursday night burned $22,500 worth of hay in a field in Chesterfield Township. The fire department said on social media Friday afternoon that it responded to the outdoor fire off of County Road 15-1 just before 10 p.m. on Thursday and found approximately 300 large square hay bales, along with another stack of bales nearby in the same field, on fire.

Summer car shows in Adrian finding a new home at Lenawee County Fair & Event Grounds
ADRIAN — Car shows in Adrian that were once part of the First Fridays summer lineup of events in the city have found a new home. Shows organized and held in and near the East Church Street parking lot of Nova’s Soda Pop Candy Shop, 105 E. Church St., and throughout the downtown streets, have relocated to the Lenawee County Fair & Event Grounds on the east side of Adrian. The first show held at the county’s historic fairgrounds was in June and the next monthly show is scheduled for today, Friday, July 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.
New summer EBT gives some Michigan families $120 per child to buy groceries
LANSING, MI - A new Michigan Summer EBT program will provide eligible families $120 per child to buy groceries while school is out for summer. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced this week that the federal government approved Michigan’s plan for the program. It was created based on similar efforts used during the COVID-19 pandemic to address food insecurity for students.
19 miles of Southwest Michigan highways to be repaved
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will resurface over 19 miles of three highways beginning Tuesday, July 9.
