    Tehama County nonprofits receive McConnell Fund grants

    Building better communities through philanthropy by providing grants is the goal of the McConnell Fund of the Community Foundation of the Northstate.

    Through its Spring Grants cycle, the McConnell Fund awarded $753,734 overall to 39 nonprofits in the Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, and Modoc counties. This is the largest amount of grant funds distributed from the McConnell Fund to date.

    Nonprofits in Tehama County to receive a McConnell grant: overall total $230,200

    • Empower Tehama to purchase phone and key fob systems for all sites for security $40,000

    • Expect More Tehama to purchase a vehicle to transport career technical education equipment to Tehama County schools $50,000

    • Kelly-Griggs House Museum Association to replace the 33-year-old roof at the Kelly-Griggs House Museum $50,000

    • Manton Education Council to purchase furniture and equipment for the classrooms and kitchen of Club Mustang and Acorns to Oaks programs $16,000

    • Mercy Foundation North to provide final funding to purchase state of the art, fully equipped ambulance for Tehama County $25,000

    • Tehama Conservation Fund to purchase a Mini Track Loader for defensible space and community safety $43,375 Tehama County Arts Council to purchase furniture and equipment for the new gallery $ 5,825

    “Our community grant review panel really saw the depth of need in these rural community spaces like area granges and chose projects that served a wide swath of residents,” said Kerry Caranci, chief executive officer at the Community Foundation. “Grants also were awarded to a mix of recreational, food, and child services agencies that needed foundational durable goods to assist their operations.”

    For 23 years, the Community Foundation of the North State has managed The McConnell Fund, an independent foundation with a mission to help build better communities through philanthropy. Through this long-standing partnership, over $13 million has been distributed to local nonprofits and public entities throughout the North

    State.
