Aumiller Park Pool will open Memorial Day weekend, but hours will be limited due to the lack of certified lifeguards.

The hours May 25-27 will be noon-6 p.m. Starting May 31, the pool will open Friday-Sunday weekly noon-6 p.m. Updates will be posted on the Aumiller Park Pool Facebook page.

Due to the limited days, no single or family season passes will be sold at this time. In addition, because of limited pool staff, private pool parties are canceled for the foreseeable future.

The City of Bucyrus is encouraging anyone to apply to become a lifeguard or for other pool positions. Lifeguards are paid $13 per hour while those working the concession stand or front door will earn $12 per hour.

Prospective lifeguards must complete the per-swim portion of certification at the YMCA before the interview process. The pre-swim is 5 p.m. May 29 at Bucyrus YMCA or sooner by scheduling through the Bucyrus YMCA aquatics department. The certification class is 8 a.m.-5 p.m. June 3-5.

For more information, contact the Bucyrus YMCA Aquatics Department at 419-562-6218.
