TELL CITY Ind. (WEHT) – Citizens gathered at City Hall to meet the nonprofit organization, Beyond the Call of Duty.

Many reflected on Tell City’s own Sgt. Heather Glenn who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2023.

Chief of Police, Derrick Lawalin says, “I’m sure there’s probably some that feel like it’s it’s kind of a constant reminder or and maybe pulling a Band-Aid off over and over again, but you know it does bring us some peace and knowing that Heather sacrifices just you know being remembered.

The nonprofit drives over 23,000 miles, making stops in 45 states during its End of Watch Ride to Remember Tour.

Beyond the Call of Duty’s mission is to connect with families and serve as a reminder that their loved ones sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Allison McCarter serves as the organization’s coordinator.

McCarter says, “We want people on the West Coast to be talking about Heather and all these other men and women and then we want people on the East Coast. We talking about these officers that we visited and honor them from the West Coast you know it’s it’s spreading them all across the nation.

The impact has a far reach, sharing the story of those lost with each visit along the way.

Chief Lawalin says, “All of these officers are heroes and I feel like you know it’s important for us to you know honor them in any opportunity we can.

The organization is fully a volunteer basis and in addition to forming connections, works to provide aid to law enforcement agencies along the way.

McCarter says, “Trying to help some of the smaller agencies you know when they don’t have gear or the equipment, they need to stay off the memorial it’s helping supplement some of that.

Beyond the Call of Duty will travel to Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.
