This Move Is Part of a Broader Initiative to Enhance Santa Monica’s Parks and Recreation Facilities. The Santa Monica City Council unanimously voted to advance the Memorial Park Redevelopment and Expansion Project, which aims to transform the historic park into a 13.2-acre community hub featuring additional sports fields, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and other amenities, as described in a blog post by the City.
An East L.A. mural honoring veterans is finally complete
East Los Angeles -- An unfinished mural paying homage to local veterans from East Los Angeles was made complete, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis announced Friday. During a news conference Friday morning, Solis, whose 1st District includes East L.A., unveiled the panels that were missing from Richard Haro's "Among the Valiant" mural located at the community center at Ruben F. Salazar Park. Actor Edward James Olmos, known for his roles in "Miami Vice" and "American Me" joined Solis alongside residents and veterans of East L.A.
