DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. – Two Douglas County fire departments are merging to expand protection for multiple communities. Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and the Winston-Dillard Fire District have combined as of July 1. The result is a new agency now known as Central Douglas Fire and Rescue (CDFR).

ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL WOMAN AFTER DUII CRASH
Roseburg Police jailed a woman after a DUII crash on Monday. An RPD report said at 12:00 p.m. officers responded to a crash on the Washington Street Bridge in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue. A sedan rear-ended an SUV, which struck a second SUV. The 58-year-old driver who caused the accident was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. Officers contacted the woman at the hospital. The woman said she fell asleep while driving because had just taken Methadone and it usually makes her drowsy.
Reedsport hatchery 'disappointed' with sentence of man behind mass deaths of juvenile Chinook
An Oregon man convicted of killing 18,000 pre-smolt salmon with bleach is now out of jail. On April 21, the Gardiner Reedsport Winchester Bay Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP) hatchery was broken into. The next morning, a hatchery worker found thousands of dead fish settled on the bottom of a holding tank.
DRIVER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A driver was taken to the hospital following a single vehicle wreck on Sunday. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 1:40 p.m. an 86-year-old man was driving eastbound on Old Melrose Road heading towards Roseburg when his pickup left the right side of the roadway and went into the ditch. The ditch is deep in that area and the vehicle traveled about one hundred feet before striking a driveway culvert.
JACKSONVILLE WOMAN JAILED AFTER DUII INCIDENT SUNDAY AT WILDLIFE SAFARI
A Jacksonville woman was jailed after a DUII incident at Wildlife Safari on Sunday. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said shortly before 3:30 p.m. the 56-year-old was called in for allegedly driving erratically in the drive through of the game park. A deputy located the vehicle at the drive through exit and initiated a traffic stop.
ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOR LITTERING INCIDENT
Roseburg Police jailed a man following a littering incident on Monday. An RPD report said at 12:50 p.m. officers witnessed 63-year-old Larry Linderman throw a beer can off of the Washington Street Bridge into the South Umpqua River. When officers attempted to take him into custody, Linderman allegedly tried to pull away and was subsequently taken to the ground. While escorting him to the patrol vehicle, Linderman reportedly kicked two patrol cars, causing damage to both of them.
