WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — For the third year in a row, the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture will host the Arts and Cultural Empowerment Awards luncheon on Wednesday, October 16.

Ann Arnold Ogden, Executive Director of the WF Alliance for Arts and Culture, said the organization is so excited to bring the ACE awards back for a third year.

“This is a celebration of arts and culture in Wichita County,” Arnold Ogden said.

The WF Alliance for Arts and Culture website allows the public to nominate someone for several ACE awards, including a new one honoring someone who had a passion for preserving the history of North Texas.

The new award, named the Nadine McKown Volunteer Service Award, honors the life and work of Nadine McKown, who served as the Executive Director of the Museum of North Texas History. McKown passed away in December 2023 after a battle with cancer.

This award honors those who, through their dedicated service and commitment, help build a lasting legacy for arts and cultural organizations in Wichita County.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our nonprofit world,” Arnold Ogden said. “It takes people that are giving their time and their energy to make this possible.”

Nominations will close on Tuesday, August 27. Past recipients are not eligible to receive an award in the same category.

Arnold Ogden said they are going all out this year, with special guest Gay Gaddis coming in as the keynote speaker. Texas Monthly named Gaddis one of the “10 Texas Artists to Collect Now.”
