Fire near Highway 79 restricts visibility, drivers advised caution

JEFFERSON COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A large wildfire along Highway 79 near the Red River has restricted visibility for drivers nearby, officials warned.

Multiple agencies from Petrolia, Dean and Jefferson County have responded to the fire, and a rain shower in the area is expected to help contain the blaze.

Drivers are urged to avoid Highway 79 or use caution when traveling near the area.
