Crawford Park Reopens in Mishawaka with Nature-Themed Enhancements

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to announce the grand re-opening of the newly remodeled Crawford Park. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, featuring Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood, will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 11 a.m. The event will take place at 445 N Niles Ave., and all community members are invited to join in the celebration, which will include free Kona Ice.

The park’s transformation embraces a “Nature Park” theme, introducing a variety of new features designed to enhance the outdoor experience for visitors of all ages. A key highlight of the renovation is the addition of man-made wetlands, which serve to separate the walkway from the new play area and children's splash pad, creating a serene and picturesque environment.

Families will be pleased to find a vibrant active play area for children, equipped with inclusive components to ensure accessibility for kids of all abilities. Additionally, the park now boasts a neighborhood lawn area, ideal for open play and special events, fostering a sense of community and providing a versatile space for gatherings.

Further improvements include the construction of a new restroom building and three new picnic shelters/pavilions, offering convenient amenities for park-goers. A small off-street parking lot has also been added to accommodate visitors, ensuring easy access to the park’s facilities.
