Bruster’s Real Ice Cream returns to New Jersey this weekend with the opening of a new Westwood location, three days of festivities − and a big prize offer for a lucky sweepstakes winner.

The ice cream shop will begin its grand opening weekend events on Friday with a lineup of “family-friendly activities and celebrations,” according to a news release from the chain.

The store, located at 513 Broadway, will be the company's only one in New Jersey , after a previous location closed in Gloucester County. That other shop will eventually reopen at an undetermined date, the chain said.

Founded 35 years ago, the company's website touts its "premium, small batch" frozen treats that are made "the old-fashioned way" by slow kettle processing. Ingredients are sourced daily from the Bruster's dairy in Titusville, Pennsylvania, according to the business.

The grand opening will kick off on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. with a prize wheel, followed by a ribbon-cutting at 6 p.m. and a DJ from 6 to 10. Saturday events include balloon twisting from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., another prize wheel from 2 to 4 p.m., face painting from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., a DJ from 6 to 10 p.m. and a “glow party” with glowsticks from 8 to 10 p.m.

Sunday will cap off the celebrations with balloon twisting from 12 to 4 p.m., a prize wheel from 2 to 4 and a DJ from 6 to 10 p.m.

John and Heather Harrison will be co-owners of the Westwood branch, with Heather having worked as a “scooper” in a Bruster’s location in Pennsylvania as a teenager, the company said.

“Aside from being able to marry our love of ice cream with our passion for owning a small business, we are thrilled at the opportunity to participate in and support the community of Westwood,” Heather Harrison said in the statement.
