Crockett homers as Cavs blast Glenvar

Mason Crockett ripped a solo home run and Britt Berrier and Ben Phillips both drove in two runs each Thursday as Carroll County defeated Glenvar 10-1 in a Three Rivers District baseball game in Hillsville.

Gage Nicholson tagged an RBI groundout and Maddox Lyons singled in Cody Reece to highlight a three-run first inning for Carroll (14-4, 7-4 Three Rivers District). Crockett made it 4-1 Carroll in the second inning with a line-drive solo homer to dead center field.

The Cavaliers put the game out of reach with a six-run fifth inning. Nicholson led off the frame with a leadoff single and Reece followed by drawing a walk. Phillips drove in Nicholson with a single and Avery Hart later walked with the bases loaded to plate another run. After Crockett was hit by a pitch, Berrier’s single scored three runs thanks in large part to a Glenvar error.

Phillips and Nicholson both went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, while Phillips drove in two. Berrier drove in two runs and scored another, while Reece scored twice and added a hit. Hart, Lyons, Burnett and Crockett also each drove in one run in the Cavalier victory.
