Big, good news regarding this former Clemson star and one of the NFL’s most dynamic, explosive wide receivers.

The New York Jets announced Wednesday that Mike Williams has been activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after he passed his physical.

That means Williams can now return to the practice field.

Williams recorded 19 receptions for 249 yards and one touchdown for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 before his season was cut short by a torn ACL. He signed a one-year deal worth up to $15 million with the Jets in March after being released by the Chargers.

Williams, who tore the ACL in Week 3 of last season, has been working off to the side in practice. Back in June, he said he expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season.

“That’s my goal, to be able to go out there, play this season and give it my all, give this team a chance, you know, to win the big thing,” Williams said.

The Jets open the 2024 campaign against the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco on Monday Night Football (8:15 p.m. ET Sept 9., ESPN/ABC).

Williams, 29, joined the Jets after spending the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Chargers, who made him the seventh overall selection in the 2017 draft.

The 6-foot-4, 218-pounder has dealt with injuries throughout his time in the league but been highly productive when healthy, piling up 309 catches for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns across 88 career games.
