Swinney ‘Super Proud’ of True Freshman RB

This talented true freshman has come a long way since the spring, according to Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney.

Swinney met with the media this week and was complimentary of David Eziomume, the former four-star running back from the Peach State who joined the Tigers’ program as an early enrollee in January.

Swinney says Eziomume – also referred to by Swinney as “Easy E” – has made strides since the spring as far as learning and getting better.

“Easy E, I will say, I’m super proud of him because he had the furthest to go (among the backup running backs) from where he was in the spring,” Swinney said on Tuesday. “And man, he just looks like the game has really slowed down for him.”

As the game has slowed down for Eziomume, the former top-250 national recruit’s confidence has grown.

“I’m proud of him,” Swinney said. “He’s just not making as many mistakes and he’s playing faster because he’s more confident in what he’s doing.”

Eziomume was ranked by Rivals as its No. 250 overall player in the nation and the seventh-best all-purpose back in the 2024 recruiting class. He was having an outstanding senior season at North Cobb High School in 2023 before it was cut short by injury, as he led the state of Georgia in rushing through six games with 1,155 yards, including consecutive games of 205, 268 and 326 rushing yards early in the season.

The 6-foot-1, 213-pounder earned all-district honors despite playing only six games and finished his senior year with 14 touchdowns and a 7.7-yard-per-carry average while also adding 250 yards receiving.
