Boss Colenberg is determined to prove some of the doubters wrong.

The 2026 prospect, who is in his first season as the quarterback at South Panola High (MS), has already been generating some interest from some college programs, but some of those schools are showing interest in him as an athlete.

Make no mistake, Colenberg is without question a gifted athlete. However, he is one of those athletes that excels at playing quarterback, which is part of the reason he is now at South Panola. He and his family thought it was in his best interest to move to a school that employs an offense that will allow him to showcase his talent.

“I think I really do best at some of those deep routes, especially in the pocket,” Colenberg told The Clemson Insider. “People think I’m more of an out-of-pocket quarterback, but I’m really more of an in-pocket quarterback.”

As he kicks off his junior campaign, Colenberg is bound and determined to prove that the preconceived notions surrounding his abilities as a quarterback are wrong.

First and foremost, the signal caller is looking to help guide his team to as much on field success as possible, but at the same time he also has some individual goals he is looking to accomplish.

“Just getting the ball out,” Colenberg said. “Aiming high, trying to hit that 2,000-yard mark.”

Colenberg made several camp stops over the summer, working out at quarterback. One of those was at Clemson, where he received positive feedback on his performance.

“Almost every time I went up to throw they would come back and tell me good throw and things like that,” he said.

Due to his elite athletic ability and his speed, many coaches have wrongly assumed he is more comfortable making plays with his legs outside of the pocket and if Colenberg had one message to deliver to the many schools out there, he would ask that they dig a little deeper into his abilities.

“They need to look further,” Colenberg said. “Because a lot of times all they see is what is in front. They don’t look at what some players can really do. Most of the time, they are just trying to figure out if I am the right weight or if I am unnatural at this position. Or if I should be playing defense or receiver.”

With two more years of high school ball in front of him, Colenberg still has time to rewrite the narrative and that journey begins on Friday night. When it’s over, he is hopeful that he will have many options when to comes to playing quarterback at the collegiate football.

Clemson is an offer he would love to earn, with Oregon, Oregon State and Oklahoma State being some of the others at the top of his list.

“That would mean a lot,” Colenberg said of an offer from the Tigers. “Clemson is definitely one of my dream schools. So that would really mean a lot to me.”
