    Meet the Memphis area top high school volleyball players to watch for the 2024 season

    As the Tennessee and Mississippi high school volleyball season gets underway, here's a look at top TSSAA and MHSAA players to watch in the Memphis area during the 2024 season.

    Campbell Funk, Arlington, Sr.: Funk finished last season with 390 kills, including four triple-doubles (kills, assists and digs).

    Karlin Lott, Arlington, Sr.: Lott, an All-Metro selection at libero, registered double-figure digs in every match played last season for a total of 425.

    Emma MacFerran, Bartlett, Sr.: MacFerran, an East Tennessee State commitment, had 104 kills, 35 blocks and 30 aces last season for the Panthers.

    Emily Papple, Bartlett, Sr.: Papple, a libero and Cumberland commitment, collected 203 digs for the 18-win Panthers last season.

    Breya Dawson, Briarcrest, So.: Dawson was named the 2023 TSSAA Division II-AA state tournament Most Valuable Player.

    Gailey Laster, Briarcrest, Sr.: Laster had 319 kills, 49 kills, 122 digs and 26 digs for the state champion Saints.

    Sarah O’Connor, Briarcrest, Jr.: O’Connor was chosen to the TSWA all-state team after finishing last season with 1,176 assists – a total that was second overall in Tennessee.

    Maeve Allen, Collierville, Sr.: Allen, a libero, had 525 digs for the 40-win Dragons last season.

    Chase Burdette, Collierville, Sr.: Burdette registered 318 kills last season for the Dragons, the 15-AAA champions.

    Brynne Krangnes, Collierville, Sr.: Krangnes had 1,017 assists for the Dragons, who have averaged 38.6 victories over the past three seasons.

    Shanella Rogers, Covington, Sr.: Rogers had 142 blocks, 112 kills and 45 digs last season for the 24-win Chargers.

    Reese McIntosh, DeSoto Central, Sr.: McIntosh, a Northwest Mississippi Community College commitment, had 331 kills, 297 digs and 61 aces for the Jaguars last season.

    Sydney Tague, DeSoto Central, Sr.: Tague tallied 1,103 assists, 234 digs and 95 aces last season for the 29-win Jaguars.

    Kate Kizer, ECS, Jr.: Kizer was named all-region last season with 272 kills, 211 digs, 49 aces and 22 blocks.

    Adalyn Callahan, Hernando, Sr.: Committed to Northwest Mississippi Community College, Callahan had 116 kills and 146 digs last season.

    Sydnee Carter, Houston, Sr.: Carter, a Louisiana Tech commitment, led the Mustangs in 2023 with 1,086 assists and 56 aces, while also having 246 digs, 109 kills and 28 blocks.

    Ella Seeger, Houston, Sr.: Seeger, a Wright State commitment, had 301 kills, 261 digs and 32 aces last season for the Mustangs.

    Sydni Vice, Houston, Jr.: Vice finished last season with 377 kills, 304 digs, 36 blocks and 35 aces for the 33-win Mustangs.

    Sofia Gonzalez, Lake Cormorant, Jr.: Gonzalez, the 2023 Class 6A Miss Volleyball, shined with 507 kills, 410 digs, 78 aces and 26 blocks for the Gators.

    Jania Rose, Lake Cormorant, Sr.: Rose, who is committed to Northwest Mississippi Community College, had 511 digs and 100 aces for the Gators, the defending MHSAA Class 6A state champions.

    Dallas White, Lake Cormorant, Sr.: White, a Northwest Mississippi Community College commit, had 977 assists, 279 digs and 43 kills for the 31-win Gators last season.

    Ella Burd, Lakeland Prep, Jr.: Burd rose to the occasion for the Lions during last season’s District 14-AA championship match, tallying 22 digs and three aces in a sweep over Bolivar Central.

    Ashari Jenkins, Lausanne, Fr.: Jenkins finished last season with 198 kills, 252 digs and 53 aces for the 18-win Lynx.

    Allie Kate Hall, Lewisburg, Sr.: Hall had 455 digs and 32 aces for the Patriots, who captured the MHSAA Class 7A state title.

    Claire Smith, Lewisburg, Sr.: Smith, a Pearl River Community College commitment, had 1,094 assists, 276 digs and 59 aces for the Patriots.

    Hallie Wright, Lewisburg, Sr.: Wright collected 182 kills and 74 blocks last season for the 33-win Patriots.

    Kylee Reynolds, Northpoint, Sr.: With 193 kills and 96 blocks, Reynolds was named TSWA all-state for the 21-win Trojans.

    Quinn Thurman, Northpoint, Sr.: Thurman was picked TSWA all-state following 382 kills, 382 digs and 71 aces for the Trojans last season.

    Madelyn Allison, St. Agnes, Sr.: Allison, a libero, helped the 20-win Stars advance to the 2023 TSSAA Division II-AA state title match.

    Lucy Huffman, St. Agnes, Jr.: Huffman had 13 kills and two blocks for the Stars in last season’s state-championship loss to Briarcrest.

    Lila McClain, St. George’s, Jr.: McClain had 298 assists, 148 kills and 42 aces from her setter position last season for the Gryphons.

    Mary May Luton, St. George’s, Jr.: Luton, a middle blocker, had 210 kills and 64 blocks for the 17-win Gryphons last season.

    Kamryn Keith, St. Mary’s, Fr.: Keith was chosen TSSAA Division II-AA West Region with 296 kills and a .289 hitting percentage for the Turkeys.

    Lila Johnston, St. Mary’s, Sr.: Johnston, a libero, had 275 digs and 58 assists for the 17-win Turkeys.

    Kiersten Armour, White Station, Jr.: Armour, an outside hitter, had 174 kills, 135 digs and 48 aces last season for the 21-win Spartans.

    The watchlist was compiled from submissions made to The Commercial Appeal by area volleyball coaches.
