Rawgirls is back: Memphis vegan eatery saved in last-minute deal. Here's what we know.

After its permanent closure was announced in July , vegan restaurant Rawgirls is sticking around after all.

In an Aug. 3 post on social media, Rawgirls owners Amy and Hannah Pickle announced that a last-minute deal was reached with a new buyer.

"An amazing woman, someone with a unique blend of medical expertise and culinary artistry, wrote us a beautiful letter, offering to buy our company and carry the torch in the same ways we have for 13 incredible years," the couple's statement said.

The new owner was not named in the post, and the Pickles did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Rawgirls' closure was previously announced July 14. The Pickles planned to leave Memphis after their daughter graduated high school, and sell the business. A deal with a prospective buyer fell through three days before closing, but they decided to continue with their initial plans to shut down. Now, Rawgirls has a second chance.

While the Downtown location remains closed for now, Rawgirls' food truck, located at 5502 Poplar Ave., is open again, with a current menu and new hours announced Wednesday morning. It is unclear if the Downtown location will reopen, but the Pickles said they will continue to operate the food truck while ownership transitions.

Current menu items announced with the new hours include eight kinds of soup like classic tomato and chana masala, as well as three desserts — peach cobbler, lemon cheesecake and dark chocolate tart.

The Pickles founded, owned and operated Rawgirls for the last 13 years, a business which they previously described as their "heart and soul."

"Thank you, Memphis, for your unwavering love, acceptance, and trust," their statement said. "Rawgirls was a beautiful accident, and we’re excited to see where new owners take it next."
