Sheriff: Significant amounts of suspected drugs, stolen items, cash found during searches

CAMBRIDGE − Multiple search warrants conducted over two days last week have resulted in the confiscation of suspected drugs, stolen items, a firearm and cash, as well as the arrest of a Cambridge man.

The warrants were executed in the city as a result of two long-term drug investigations into the trafficking methamphetamines and fentanyl in the county.

According to the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office, detectives conducted a search warrant at a North 10th Street home on Aug. 20. During the search, officers discovered a significant amount of suspected methamphetamines and evidence of drug trafficking, as well as a large number of items believed to be stolen.

As a result, Sherman Jones, 55, was charged with trafficking in drugs with in the vicinity of a substance addiction service provider, a first-degree felony; and possession of drugs, a second-degree felony.

Detectives conducted another search on Aug. 22, this time at a home on Wills Creek Valley Drive. Again they recovered a significant amount of suspected methamphetamines, fentanyl, a firearm, cash and items associated with the manufacturing and distributing of illegal narcotics, within the vicinity of a school.

Three individuals were taken into custody and are being held at the Guernsey County Jail. Their names are being withheld until formal charges are filed.

Both incidents remain under investigation as detectives continue to follow up on information.

Sheriff Jeffrey Paden said these investigations have asset forfeiture specifications which means any assets, including vehicles, being used for trafficking drugs or obtained as a result of trafficking, will be seized and forfeited.
