BROOKHAVEN — Thursday morning wind gusts are howling in Lincoln County. National Weather Service in Jackson warns the winds will stay strong throughout the day.

Sustained wind speeds could reach 15 to 25 mph throughout the day and gusts as high 40 mph. Downed trees and power lines could be possible. NWS Jackson warns with the winds and water soaked ground the risk of trees uprooting is even higher. Unsecured objects could be blown away with these winds.

The winds pose a threat to travel as high profile vehicles could become unsteady. Lincoln County is under a wind advisory currently until 7 p.m. along with Copiah, Pike, Franklin, Lawrence and Jefferson Counties.

Entergy reported a majority of their restoration of damages during the severe weather to power lines came from trees falling on the lines and poles breaking. At this time, 3 Entergy customers in Lincoln County are without power according to their dashboard. Southwest Electric reports one customer is without power in Lincoln County and Magnolia Electric reports 110 customers are without power in Lincoln County.

NWS Jackson reports two tornadoes touched down in Mississippi during the severe weather outbreak from April 9 to April 10. An EF1 touched down in Hinds County and an EF0 touched down in Madison County.
