The Downtown Bash will return to the steps of the Old Historic Courthouse on Taylor Street this Saturday from 5-9 p.m.

Tin Can Tourist Productions will entertain us and encourage us to dance the night away in the streets. They have been rocking Southwest Florida since 2017 with original songs, covers and tributes to please all.

Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be available, as well as snacks, brought to you by the Dawg Pound, Wally’s BBQ and Sunny Days Ice Cream.

Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the open-air concert brought to you by your Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce. No coolers please.

In order to present these great events, we need you to support the costs of the band and set up, by buying your liquid refreshments on site. Grab your friends, colleagues and neighbors and enjoy a casual night of great music under the stars. Admission is free.

Special thanks to our sponsors for this night, Pool Boy Inc., Superior Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning and Marine Contracting Group Inc.

    THE SEARCH IS ON

The third-annual Your Chamber’s Got Talent Show returns to the Gulf Theater at the Military Heritage Museum on Aug. 8. Tickets can already be secured by visiting www.gulftheater.org.

This year, we’ve made some upgrades. The show participants will be divided into specific categories — vocal, dance, drama, comedy and “other.” Each category will have a winner selected by you, the audience. The overall winner will be selected by our five “celebrity” judges.

Now is the time to get your act together (literally) and let us know what your act is all about and which category you fall into. The show will be 7-9 p.m., with rehearsals for sound and lighting starting around 3 p.m. that same day.

Who will take the trophy this year and follow on from Whitney Grace, Lauren Davis and Ben “Bam Bam” Strunk in the winner’s circle? To register for competing in the competition, simply call us at 941-639-3720 for a simple application form.

    BUSINESS AFTER HOURS

Tonight (May 21), please join us at Valerie’s House for our May Business After Hours, starting at 5:30 p.m. Their new Charlotte County location is 233 E. McKenzie St., Punta Gorda.

This is a great opportunity to mingle with fellow business leaders and to promote your own business with them.

Thinking about joining a chamber? Tonight would be a great opportunity to put your training wheels on and see what we can all do together. Remember to bring a small gift to promote your business in the raffle we do at the end. See you later.

As you see, there’s lots being planned and a lot more to come, we are sure. Visit www.puntagordachamber.com or call us at 941-639-3720.

John R. Wright is president of the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce.
